Case Management Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services (CRCS) Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services (CRCS), more commonly referred to as just Case Management, is a counseling service that is available to individuals who are infected with HIV. During counseling sessions, counselors address risk behavior and risk reduction with each participant in order to educate and prevent transmission of HIV. CAL-PEP reserves this service for individuals who are infected with HIV who are at risk of transmitting the virus through high-risk behaviors. The objective of this service is to increase the frequency of protective behaviors used by each individual and to decrease the frequency of high-risk behaviors that will transmit HIV. Additionally, the objective is to provide assistance to individuals who feel the need and are interested in making positive changes in their lives. Many participants are referred to Case Management through CAL-PEP’s HIV Testing services. An individual who meets the criteria for Case Management is referred to the program and met with a counselor who will determine the participant’s risk for transmitting HIV. After risk is determined, the participant and Counselor will make an action plan together catered to that individual’s risk behaviors. The action plan will help reduce risk behaviors by allowing the participant to express their concerns and needs in a safe, confidential, and comfortable setting. Prevention with Positives Prevention with Positives is a Case Management Program designed specifically for African American Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) who are HIV positive. This program focuses on preventing the spread of HIV infection from HIV positive individuals to their partners. The objectives of this program are to reduce the rate of HIV transmission for HIV positive African American MSM by: educating and promoting increased condom usage, safer sex practices, and partner-to-partner safer sex communication and negotiation skills.
