EXECUTIVE BIO

Gloria J. Lockett Executive Director & Co-Founder

Gloria is the co-founder and Executive Director of California Prevention and Education Project (CAL-PEP). When founded, CAL-PEP’S primary focus was HIV/AIDS/STD prevention and education for prostitutes and their partners. Since that time, the scope of CAL-PEP’S work has expanded to include other populations including injection drug users, crack users, teens, the homeless, and the incarcerated population. This expansion was made possible because of Ms. Lockett’s expertise in strategies that reach high-risk populations and her practical application of these strategies. Ms. Lockett developed and pioneered AIDS prevention and education techniques for dissemination through CAL-PEP outreach teams. These techniques have evolved into greater outreach services including street based community health outreach, mobile HIV testing, and prevention and education programs for people living with HIV.

As the Executive Director of CAL-PEP, Ms. Lockett is responsible for overseeing and directing agency HIV prevention programs. Ms. Lockett leads with passion in educating the community that AIDS is 100% preventable. She is a dedicated steward of Alameda County and serves as Chair Person of the Service Planning Committee and is a member on the Executive Committee for the Planning Council of Alameda County.
