Sonya Richey- - HIV Mobile Testing &
Project Coordinator

Sonya Richey has been employed by CAL-PEP for the last 15 years. Currently, she is the coordinator for both the HIV Mobile Testing program and Larkin Street Youth Project. Having had family members die or suffer from AIDS, Sonya’s work at CAL-PEP is deeply personal and meaningful. Sonya’s commitment to HIV testing and counseling is well known throughout Alameda County.

Sonya feels that CAL-PEP is sensitive to the needs of its clients and that CAL-PEP staff is patient and takes the time to establish the client’s trust. According to Sonya, clients “… respect and trust us,” and this gives CAL-PEP a unique advantage in reaching marginalized populations who are most affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Nothing gives Sonya greater satisfaction than when a former client returns to CAL-PEP to provide testimonials and encouragement to current clients.
